Incandescents vs CFL's

Compact Fluorescent LightCFLs use about a quarter of the power of incandescent bulbs which translates to big savings. A 13W CFL gives approximately the same lumens (brightness) as a 60 watt incandescent bulb. Since CFLs use about 1/4 of the energy of incandescent bulbs they play a key part in the efforts to fight climate change. Each 13-watt CFL, over the expected 10,000 hour life of the bulbs, will save 470 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity as compared to 60-watt incandescent bulbs. This results in a reduction of approximately 306 kilograms of Carbon dioxide per bulb. A CFL bulbs last 10,000 hours compared to an incandescent bulbÕs 1000 hours. CFLÕs generate up to 70 per cent less heat. In Incandescent bulbs 90 per cent of the energy goes into generating heat thus only 10% generates light.

13W Ð 76 hours 55 mins (same lumens as a 60W incandescent)

28W Ð 35 hours 40 mins (same lumens as a 100W incandescent)

So make sure you switch to bigger savings and a cooler planet.
